My husband was all excited to make "homemade" fried chicken just like on the front of the Copper Chef brochure! He followed the directions EXACTLY as they instructed and cooked the pieces over medium heat. All of a sudden, I heard a loud bang and went running in the kitchen. The glass top stove had shattered and pieces of glass flew at him and all over the kitchen. Luckily, he wore glasses! Our Jenn-Air stovetop had worked perfectly for years and when we tried to replace it with a less expensive brand, still $1000.00+, we discovered that it was custom fit and would cost much more $ & time to cut the granite to fit a standard one. Nearly 3 months later, we still have no stovetop. Tristan Products, Inc. was informed right away of the explosion and turned the pictures and evidence over to the insurance company, Westchester Surplus Lines. Meanwhile, we gave Tristar benefit of the doubt that they would do the right thing while we kept quiet about the incident per their wish. Then the certified letter came, claiming no responsibility of the "standard stainless steel Copper Chef pan"! No mention of it being made of copper as many reviews have revealed so we believe the danger is in the fake copper coating. Protect your stove and yourself. Do not buy this pan!
