Setting makes the whole thing look cheap.
You cannot see from the pictures, but the setting has a really low profile, and the stone is quite flat, so the studs sit quite close to the ear. A real diamond stud (and consequently, a good-looking fake) would have a taller setting to let light under the "stone." In addition, the setting is quite ugly, like a tiny little cage, not like a normal four-prong setting.
The effect is to make it appear one has glued crystals to one's earlobes. It's weird. I am returning. Also the zirconias are far far more shiny than real diamonds, which contribute to the cheap look.
