Broke very light home use June-Oct 2018, failed, service, returned still defective
I am a very light user for my homemade cheeses and cured meats, probably did a total of 30ish seals using this packer over a few months. Bought June, installed June, failed by end of Sept. Sent my service query in October, I replaced the seal as they suggested, then came all the painful parts of their service. The phone support is the only way to get through, they don't do good email support (often times no response at all). But then sometiems phone system is down, so then you have to email.... anyhoo after awhile of them saying they'd send me a shipping label and return instructions after our call, they never sent it. I had to follow up. Fast forward to me calling again, I finally got on them in Nov 2018 to get this shipped in, which they couldn't sent me a shipping box, that was $25 out of pocket for shipping. They sent me a label at least, but that took convincing.
Finally get it back after $300 worth of food is spoiled or cured meet is over dried. Had to throw away food. Dec 28, I finally try to re-seal using their provided bags and same problem occurs, vaccum works, no seal! I call support and phone line is down due to technical difficulties... I sent an email. As of today Jan 3rd, I have no response.
I feel totally ripped off buying a commercial grade product specifically for reliability and am put through this headache of an experience. I also own a Weston meat grinder (no problems), but overall my experience with the brand has been the worst brand experience I've had... worse than airlines which is saying a lot.
Wish I bought a cheap $50 vac packer and would not have a problem replacing it every year or so. If Weston wants to make this right, I may change my review. I'm about to write to BBB.
