Bad product - going back
I lot of people have complained about the roughness of this product and the ones that got good ones have counteracted by insinuating that the reviewers don't understand the seasoning process. I took a chance and bought this recently but sad to say its going back. I have owned and continue to use lodge cast iron products daily, but had to return this pan, because its just not the same. I can understand the micropores need to fill with carbon in the seasoning process leading to a good smooth finish, but that's not the kind of roughness I (and quite a few others) am talking about. I am talking about rough/gritty/pebbly roughness. I The small projections stick out no matter how much seasoning you do on top of the "pre-seasoning" so much so that you cannot move the spatula in the forward direction without it snagging on those pebbles of roughness. Again - I am a long time user of lodge cast iron products. I think its bad quality control on these ones, making it a hit or miss. I checked out the same product at walmart and they had varying degrees of roughness on different pieces of the same model.
