I didn't do my homework on this, and now I'm pretty upset about it. This scarf was made in China. The keffiyeh is a Palestinian symbol, known unofficially as the Palestinian flag. To wear one is to express solidarity with Palestine. And that, I'm really cool with. That's why I bought it. But if you're buying one and you don't care about Palestine, that's pretty much cultural appropriation, which is still not really that bad if you buy one made in Palestine. But there's only one company in Palestine that makes them, they make really good ones, and they're struggling to compete with crappy imitation ones made in China, like this one. And even if you don't care about all that, this is still a really poor quality scarf. Spend the extra and feel good about supporting a small business in Palestine. I'm buying my next one from them.
