My daughter was so excited when this lunch box arrived, but after the first use, neither of us want to use it again. First, it weighs almost two pounds empty, and it is difficult to close for an adult, let alone a child. Second, the insulated portion of the box is quite small, and an enormous amount of space is taken up by the holder that keeps the round container from moving in the square space. So for all its bulk and weight, it can carry a very small amount of food, with no space for cutlery. The small insulated cylinder does open easily, but it will not close unless it is inserted in the peg-in-a-square-hole holder. This makes it unusable separate from the box. Finally, the deep compartments and the grooves in the lid are nearly impossible to hand wash adequately, and it takes up an enormous amount of room in the dishwasher. Very disappointing, especially given the price. I'd rather use a Zojirushi thermal pot with gasket (very easy to open, stays hot for hours), and a classic brown lunch bag.
