Not for pet owners
The 411 auto is a very different Blueair, but is it better than previous models? From first glance, the machine looks like a standard style Blueair. I have Blueair121 and 211+, they both look good, are reasonably quiet, and collect an amazing amount of dust and cat fuzz from the atmosphere. The standard Blueair construction is basically a hefty fan atop a metal box with a filter inside and a nylon sleeve outside.
On the Blueair 411 auto, options with a cover have no metal box. You are buying a small fan atop a filter with a fabric sleeve outside. It makes the unit incredibly light, but I question its effectiveness to do the job. The fan is very quiet, almost undetectable. Air movement out the top on the highest setting can be barely felt from two feet away. You can feel air flow on the fabric side, but there is not much suction to capture large particles like cat fuzz.
For me, the 411 is not robust enough. With two fuzzy cats, I need an air purifier which can capture cat fuzz and dander. The 411 size does not have the suction. It is quieter and smaller but cannot suck in particles like the 211. In a larger 'small' room I wonder how its auto feature would ever come into play.
If you are not a pet owner and have a very small room, the 411 is a beautiful small air purifier. Just beware the fan is small and cover versions do not have a metal filter container underneath.
