Wannabe MIL-SPEC optics--Utter Garbage...
I don't often write negative reviews--largely because I spend so much time vetting out my purchases prior to making them and am therefore happy with my purchases. These binoculars do not make the usual cut and here's why: Out of the box (4/28/2016): - Package was generic and smacked of Chinese import knocking off MIL-SPEC gear - Lanyard for carrying over the shoulder or neck is bright neon yellow while the binoculars themselves are MIL-SPEC green, the tote is MIL-SPEC green and the lens covers are MIL-SPEC green. - Lens covers do not maintain a tight fit and fell off when the binoculars were taken out of the box (both eye relief cover AND lens caps) First Field Use (9/2/2016 - 9/4/2016): - Noticed finger prints INSIDE of BOTH eyepieces! - Adjusted eye piece focal point for the first time and noticed plastic threading coming loose INSIDE the eyepiece--can't remove or clean that I'm aware of - Sealant over-applied to lens housings with visible oozing upon adjustment - Range-finding adjustment is loose and binds up upon rotation (like there's no gears or lubricant or anything one would expect for an optics device in this price range--just free-spinning plastic) Takeaways: - Binoculars are poorly assembled and poorly QA'd at the manufacturer - Binoculars work at their marketed range, but are nothing special - Range finding is done via calculations - not automatically (in case some of you were wondering) - Highly unlikely to withstand the test of time or hold up to typical wear and tear I would not purchase these binoculars again and regret not putting them to use sooner so as to avoid not being able to return them. The range finding feature (which is what sold me on this model) is only partially useful as you must be able to approximate the focal sources size/height prior to ESTIMATING it's distance. Further...and this is the part that REALLY makes me mad...this is clearly a private label binocular model which ANY vendor can put their name on and resale to the public under the guise of something of value. I've seen this exact model on Amazon now at least 4 times with different vendor names (exp. USCAMEL, MERYTES, BNISE, AOMEKIE, etc.), different prices, and basically the same description. For optics in this price range you can do MUCH better with Vortex and even Bushnell. Long story short, I'm VERY displeased with this purchase and wish that I had gone with a more reputable and reliable brand.
