Fireproof? Hmm...
The definition of "fireproof" is as follows: "Impervious or resistant to damage by fire."
When I first received this product, I did a test to satisfy myself. I wanted to be sure my important documents would be protected during a fire. Here are my findings...
I held the flame of a lighter to the main, grey material of this document bag for ~5 seconds. It didn't burn through, though the flame left a sooty scorch mark that could not be wiped away. Not impervious. But it was resistant.
I then held the same flame to the black edge piping and it burst into flames within a second, completely melting away. Not cool. Not impervious. Not resistant.
It's puzzling why the edging is not made of the same grade of flame-retardant material. Instead, it burns away immediately, leaving entry points for oxygen into the interior. And oxygen is fuel for fire.
Disappointed.
