Was a decent TV until Samsung screwed it up :-(
Hi.
I recently purchased a Samsung smart TV for the first time a few months ago. The picture quality out of the box was amazing and after calibrating everything including 2point + 10point white balance it clearly produced one of the best looking pictures on the market.
After updating to firmware version 1141.0 everything worked flawlessly. The picture had nearly no judder with Auto Motion Plus turned off and scenes with motion were very smooth and jerky free. The menu and hub opened very quick and smooth without any lag what so ever. This TV was nearly nothing less than perfect. It was a 5 star tv.
Since Samsung was doing such an excellent job with their firmware updates I chose to update to the latest 1142.1 firmware update. Now I have nothing but problems.
Biggest issue. While I do appreciate the slight increase in picture quality the entire tv is now very jerky. Browsing the TV menu now is jerky and slow. YouTube app will no longer remember my logon info whenever I force exit by holding down on the exit button. Also having issues with Netflix App losing connection.
The worst part of my problems is any moving picture scenes from any source is now very jerky no matter what source the video is playing from. If I turn on Auto Motion Plus it does help but not without adding allot of Soap Opera Effect.
My TV is now worth only 2 stars. Because I was stupid enough to update to firmware 1142.1 which has turned a nearly perfect TV into something really not watchable because of the huge performance drop.
I wish I could somehow go back to firmware 1141.0 so I could once again have a watchable $1800 SUHD Samsung TV.
I did contact Samsung Support and after remote controlling my TV they reset everything and no matter what they did or tried they could not fix the major performance loss the 1142.1 firmware has caused. I can no longer watch anything without experiencing intensely jerky scenes.
I wish Samsung made it possible to reflash earlier firmware so we could have an opportunity to roll back whenever newer firmware screws up our once enjoyable SUHD TV's.
It's so bad I really wish they would replace the entire TV with one of an earlier firmware or at least offer a way to roll back their mistakes with newer firmware. As of now I'm now stuck with something not really watchable and a very sad, disappointed customer of Samsung. Wish their technicians at least had the ability to reflash earlier firmware that worked :-(
