Good idea but bad implementation
The Kreg Rip-Cut 24-inch precision circular saw guide is a very good idea but only a so-so implementation. The saw guide definitely allowed me to cut down 11- 4 x 8 sheets much more quickly and easier than would have been the case if I had used my table saw. However, the cheap plastic construction means the guide won't last very long and the short length of the guide required that I cut away the width that I don't want for cuts greater than 24" in width instead of cutting the width I do want, but having to take into consideration the width of the blade.
Also,
1. The circular saw attachment does not attach well to my Porter Cable MAG which has a thicker base than the attachment brackets can easily grab. The way around this problem was to place two washers between the base and the attachment brackets.
2. The Kreg base assembly is very cheaply constructed. As the set screw is tightened onto the base of my circular saw, the plastic base clamp assembly begins to progressively warp. Sooner or later it will break. The Kreg base attachment could have been 5 stars has it been made of aluminum or at least much thicker plaster
3. The left most "holder" of the cross-hair for the aluminum ruler barely holds the plastic cross hair. It needs to be wider.
4. The plastic section that T's off of the aluminum ruler would have been much more valuable were it 3-4 inches longer. As is, most of the plastic section that rides along the piece being cut reaches the end of the wood being cut before the circular saw blade has completed its cut. As a result, it is difficult to make the last few inches of the cut stay parallel to the edge.
