I'm not sure what all the 5 star reviewers are comparing this palette to, but If I had to guess I'd say it was probably a box of chalk. If that's your point of reference, then sure, this is a great palette. These shadows are about as pigmented as an Ansel Adams Photo. And, they're so densely packed, I'd recommend using sand paper to pick up the product. Or a hammer. It's a challenge getting it out, is what I'm trying to say. Another thing that irked me is just how matte every single color is! You think you see shimmer in some of the photos? Hell no, that's not gonna make it to your eyelid. There will be no inkling of shimmer, no dimension whatsoever, just dull, flat, and matte. Do note everyone's use of the word "Buildable" in the reviews. "Buildable" is a nice way of saying "Basically Translucent, have fun applying 5 layers to achieve a washed out, muddy approximation of the color you see in the pan." "Blendable" is another good one too. And don't get me wrong, of course I want my shadow to be blendable. What I don't want is the color to fade into oblivion the moment I casually glance in the direction of my brush. And no, Primer won't save you. This shadow hates your primer and everything it stands for. It will ignore it, and act as if the primer isn't there at all. This shadow is an independent powder that don't need no primer. Never seen an eyeshadow behave that way before. I was more impressed than irritated by that, as it would have been inspirational in any other context. Let me further clarify: I'm really pale; like gross pale. Just picture one of those deep sea creatures you learn about on the discovery channel that has no eyes and is this weird translucent white blob because it's never exposed to light. That's me. So yeah, if you have ANY amount of melanin in your skin, I imagine this shadow will work on you about as well as trying to paint your entire house using nothing but the power of positive thinking. But what I am most disappointed in here is myself. I did not return this product immediately. I did that dumb crap we always do when we're like "Oh there's so many colors, maybe I'll find a use for it some day... I'll give it away! Or maybe I'll mix it with a gloss and make some fun sassy lip colors!!!" No. None of that happened. None of that ever happens. It's still sitting in my drawer with like 15 other unused reject products, from the 15 other times I didn't just accept defeat gracefully. Don't do that. Don't be like me. If you still feel the need to purchase this, you go ahead and do you. But at least get rid of it when it inevitabley betrays you.
