★☆☆☆☆
Poorly designed and executed
At $45, this case is vastly overpriced. The only good point is that the covers are quite rigid and would protect the device well. Other than that, it's an abject failure. Design-wise, the clamps are just bad. They barely make it over the edge of the device, and I seriously doubt that they would retain the Fire in the event of a drop or other mishap. In addition, you have to pop the Fire out of the two clamps nearest the spine to prop the device up in the viewing position, and the clamps don't have any sort of spring action. Sooner or later, mostly likely sooner, they'll deform and stop holding the device at all. The elastic band to hold the cover shut is pretty much identical to the one on a Moleskine. OK for a paper notebook, not so good for a $45 cover. I'd give the elastic maybe 3 months before it dies. The leather is ok, not great, but the stitching is sloppy. Not at all what I'd expect for $45. Loose threads, seams don't quite line up, etc. This puppy is going right back.
