Premise was great, but...
I was able to download this book for free through Amazon Prime, so I figured it was worth giving it a shot for that price. I was intrigued by the premise, and I really, REALLY wanted to like the book, but it fell flat for me. I still like the premise, there's just not enough "meat" to the story. I thought the relationship between Skye and Aiden needed to be better developed. It went from acquaintances to "I want you" seemingly overnight. There was no build-up, no real romance. I wasn't convinced of Aiden as a love interest, anyway, and when I read any romance (be it PNR or otherwise), I want to be made to "fall in love" with the leading man too. That was NOT there in this book, at all.
I appreciated that Skye was written as a strong but not annoying woman. So many of these "strong" female leads are just bitchy, not actually strong. Skye never simpered, never swooned, and I liked that.
The lack of editing was VERY distracting, especially later in the book. Is it too much to ask for a comma here and there? I can overlook the occasional error in these indie books (and I've been reading a LOT of them lately), but this one is the worst I've come across so far.
This could be a good book with a solid re-write by the author, fleshing out the relationships more and writing a deeper story. And please find a good editor when you're done...
