Well, add me to the list of people who had this thing melt down on them! Recently realized I had not been using my air purifier, so left in on in the bedroom for a couple of days after waking up. One evening I was in another room and started to smell a horrible burning plastic odor. After wandering around my house unplugging appliances and feeling outlets for warmth I suspected the purifier... it still appeared to be running, but the top where the electronic controls are smelled of burning plastic. The burnt plastic smell lingered for a day or so. Avoid these things!
