I loved the Kindle Fire 7" and was very excited to receive my 8.9" model. I am so disappointed I could cry. -) The battery will not hold a charge - one hour Max. I need to sit where there is an electrical outlet so I can plug in. It was plugged in overnight and did not fully charge. -) With the 7" I could scroll through dozens and dozens of posts on Facebook. With the 8.9" it will load what you first see on the screen, if you try to scroll you get the little circular icon that just continues to search. I have waited for 15 minutes and it never goes further even though I have 5 bars on the internet strength. By then the battery is drained from constant search. I give up and get out the 7" Fire. -) Touch screen is unresponsive. I have to keep an eye on what I type - I have 2 problems there. First, when I type many times the letters do not appear as typed and I may have to hit the key several times before the letter will appear. Second, The space bar when typing does not put in spaces. I will look up at screen and see just a mass of letters. I will have to scan the typed mass and attempt to put the curser at the appropriate place and hit the space bar until a space is added. I had read the reviews and felt the 8.9" had all the features and size I wanted. I come to the conculsion that I just got a lemon and will be returning it and looking at another brand of tablet. With this sad piece of electronics Amazon has lost one customer. How could they have gone from such a nice tablet as the 7" is to a piece of junk that I received in this 8.9" model? HD is fine if you just want to read your e-mail or view photos but that is not what I wanted this tablet for. I was hoping to get what it appears that most of reviews received. That is not what I received. I am taking my 7" Fire off the eBay listing and using it until I can get a better tablet at my local electronic store. I would not recommend this tablet to anybody. I am typing this review on my laptop since typing is one thing I can not do with the 8.9" tablet.
