We have been growing sprouts in glass canning jars for a long time. I wanted something that would give me more sprouts for less counter space, so we chose this. I tried it with broccoli sprouts, mung beans, alfalfa, and 2 different seed mixes. No matter how big, or how small the seeds were, the water never drained properly. There are only drain holes around the edges of the container, and there is always a lot of water sitting on the seeds, the instructions say that a tablespoon or so is normal, but I would never have that much water in a canning jar. It seems like a good way to grow bacteria. So it wasn't suprising that my sprouts began to smell. Even if you remove every level and rinse and drain the seeds separately, there is still cross contamination from spores of bacteria when the entire thing has so much water sitting in it constantly. We threw it in the trash. Shipping and service we're fine. This is just a bad product.
