★☆☆☆☆
If I could put a negative star, I would.
This book is completely devoid of any references to scientific research on the claims being made. A rich body of evidence exists out there – some are weak studies, but many are not. I would expect that Dr. Apelian, claiming to be an expert in this field, would have thoroughly scoured the research and at least presented the evidence that exists (both for and against her claims). As a author who claims to be a research biologist , and certainly as a person with a PhD, this is unacceptable. In this day and age people expect better. Also, it’s one thing to write a sweet little book with pretty pictures and present the folklore or historical medicinal use, but then where is it? I would imagine that would have been Claude Davis’ contribution as a “history expert” but the book is barren of that as well. There is absolutely nothing in this book that cannot be found on the internet. If you are interested in herbal medicine, look elsewhere. Now I just have to figure out how to get my money back!
