Journal falls apart immediately
I want to love this journal; I wanted an alternative to Moleskin, which I find a substantial journal which has good paper and lays flat. The paper is very good, which is why I bought three right off. I like the size/format (landscape) and use it for all kind of urban sketching. I did two watercolors and loved the paper. Then the journal fell apart -- within 24 hours of me painting in my own studio! I've told Pentalic about this and they did not respond. I taped the hell out of it and finished that journal (so really, Pentalic NEVER responded) and said, okay, maybe it was a one off. I opened the next one and was creating my first entry and the dang thing came undone -- pulled clear away from the cover, just as before. So I posted on my blog and also posted on Pentalic's FB page and STILL NO RESPONSE. So, while I rarely give a one star review, I have to say, the journal is bad, and the company doesn't care. On the other hand, Moleskin replaced a book when after 10 pages I found a half-sewn signature. I sent pics to Moleskin and they sent me a new book. (Pics of both books below.) I bought some of these journals from Amazon and some from a store and so I couldn't ask Amazon to replace.... Now I have two more of these stupid journals to finish up, but this time I will be taping before I even start. UPDATE: Pentalic does care, but they are so so slow I finished another journal before they responded (like months.) They sent me two replacements, saying they repaired the problem. Sadly, that and the A4 all still cracked within a short time. I now only use Hahnemuhle or Moleskins.
