Absolutely insulting and offensive, not a children’s book
I cannot believe I am living in a world where an anti-white, anti-police book is being advertised for early readers (5 year olds?!) and receiving gleaming reviews. This book is garbage. My children are mostly white, and I hope they never read this book or a similar book where they are flatly told that their ancestors and their own families are bad people simply because of the color of their skin. This book has no real story line and is clearly not written for a child’s mind but rather an adult audience to do nothing more than induce white guilt. Any child who reads this will only be confused and feel negative emotions towards white people and cops even though they won’t fully understand why because the book only glosses over these very complex issues and again, children ages 5-8 who would be reading this are way too immature to understand these issues! Towards the end of the book, it literally states, “whiteness is a bad deal.” If it said “racism” instead of “whiteness” I would totally support it! But why are we blatantly telling white children they are bad?! Because that’s how they will read this. This book starts off under the guise of teaching history and how to not to be racist but in the end, it’s very clear that this is simply an anti-white book. And being anti-any color/race IS racism! Not to mention the author throws in a single random line about a cop murdering someone wrongfully...to a child who barely understands what a cop is, they will simply understand this as “cops=murderers” which is not true 99% of the time! I just cannot understand how so many people support trash indoctrination like this book. Teaching innocent white children to feel guilt, anger, and hate towards themselves and their families and teaching their non-white peers to feel hate and anger towards whites as well. All the whole teaching NOTHING positive or constructive throughout the entire book. Just completely inappropriate for this age group and horribly executed for the purposes of anti-racist education.
