Meh
Quick bio of myself... I'm a 28 y/o male with neck and shoulder pain. I was looking for a heating pad that would alleviate the pain I have in the aforementioned area's. I used a product before this that was a microwavable "wet" heat that you can find in any bed and bath store. It was made out of heavy/dense material that really seemed to penetrate my muscles and you could actually feel the difference within minutes. The only problem with it was that it's microwavable and therefore loses heat within the first 5 minutes. So I returned it and started looking for a plug-in heating pad that would (in theory) keep heat for as long as you needed.
Fast forward to receiving this heating pad. It was roughly the same shape as the microwavable one but much softer and lighter. I selected the "Medium" setting and decided to give it a go. The only way I can describe this heating pad is... a big disappointment. Here are the problems:
It heats up nicely for the first 5 minutes and then trails off to a lukewarm setting. This happens no matter if you select low, medium, or high settings. It also doesn't seem to be helping with muscle pain at all. The pad itself is so light and flimsy that it's not dense enough to penetrate your muscles. This heating pad simply rests on your shoulders delivering lukewarm heat which is not nearly enough to make a difference. The only part of the body that feels any sort of heat is the back of your neck and it actually becomes uncomfortable sooner than later.
I bought this in hopes that it would deliver the same type of relief that the microwavable pad did, but unfortunately it did not. For anyone with moderate to severe neck and shoulder pain... this is not the pad for you.
