★★☆☆☆
Looks good, but cheap and way overpriced
This is a very difficult item to review, but bear with me, as I have thought about this a lot. First, let me just state the positives of this end table. It is a decently nice design and looks kind of cool; it fits with modern "industrial" decor or even with farmhouse styles. It is a pretty good size and, as described, is sturdy in terms of the metal frame providing a solid surface that doesn't tip and holds a pretty good amount of weight.
Now my reasons for giving this product two stars, an unusually low rating for me. First, the slab of wood that's the centerpiece of the end table is a cheap piece of junk. It's hollow board made to look thick and heavy. In fact, it's not just hollow, it's hollow with *super thin* walls. Once touch of it, one click of a pint glass down onto the table, and you can tell it's barely more than a veneer glued together to look like a big heavy slab of elm. The product description calling it "reclaimed elm" is really stretching it. So is the product description saying it weights 100 pounds (not even close, even with the metal frame). It's light and feels cheap. Additionally, the steel frame is not particularly high quality. It is comparable to the steel frames you would find on the cheapest department store furniture.
Second reason for two stars is that, for reasons described above, the price (currently $250) is absolutely out of line. To be honest, if I was shopping in a bricks-and-mortar store, I would not pay much more than $50 for this thing. They are charging five times this amount, misleading buyers with a description to indicate that it's a solid, heavy slab of real reclaimed elm.
In sum, this table looks good in the picture and might suit some peoples' needs, but the product description is misleading and the price is WAY WAY WAY too high. I hope my review helps steer you away from making a purchase you would regret, because that is precisely my intention. Keep looking; better yet, check out your expensive furniture pieces in the store before making the decision.
