Truth up front; I barely started reading and found a glaring error which has put the veracity of the rest of the book in doubt. In trying to explain when to use "lay" versus "lie" the author stated the past tense of "lie" is "lay" which is correct. She then demonstrated the correct usage with this sentence; "Five minutes ago, she told him to "lay" down on the floor and bark like a dog." That is incorrect. "Lie" is correct because it is linked to the "to" infinitive (the object clause of the the verb "told") and not used as the past tense verb in this sentence. "Told" is the past tense verb in the sentence. Correct usage of past tense "lie" is, "Yesterday, I lay there thinking about my mom." I'm not sure I'll read any more of this book. I may know more than the author.
