On May 7, 2019 Alphabet (Google) announced that Nest devices will no longer support "Works with Nest," meaning that any smart features will no longer work (except Google Assistant) effective August 31, 2019. This means that Nest products will no longer work with any of the major smart home devices, including Smartthings, IFTTT, Alexa, and even including the Nest app itself. Since Google routines cannot be triggered by most events, this essentially makes them super expensive dumb devices. Luckily, I bought all of my Nest Protects less than 30 days ago and will be returning them for a refund.
