Promising product, not ready for prime time; poor customer service
Our experience with this product was less than stellar. We ordered the product on June 7, 2014 for $149. After some in-home trialing for my son, it was clear that he was not going to use it for two reasons: his knee hit the plastic holder for the knee pad and it was very uncomfortable, and compared to simply grabbing his normal crutches, the straps take way longer to set and adjust to be worth it. I see others have commented similarly here as well. We then requested to return it on June 18, 2014, and I'll simply let you know how that went. You can then weigh whether it's worth the product and customer service challenges you may encounter before ordering. +----------------- June 7: Ordered product. +----------------- June 9: Product arrives. +----------------- June 18: Return requested. I think the device is working as intended, we're just finding the fundamental design problematic in two main areas, and he's just not using it because of it. First is the knee pad doesn't fully cover the plastic holder, so the plastic edge is digging into his knee. This is the biggest complaint he has (and incidentally, we had our 12 year old daughter try it, and she complained of the same thing). The other issue is the time it takes to handle the strapping. For him, it's just not worth the several minutes to get in and out of the crutch as opposed to using his normal crutches. So both of these aspects are leading to him not using it, so we're returning it. The crutch has only been used within our house, and he's only worn it a few times at that. To be clear, I love the idea of this crutch! It's a remarkable concept and I was really excited about the freedom this was going to give him. Unfortunately, this iteration of it doesn't seem to be ready for routine use. Have you explored using snap straps, similar to how a knee board velcro strap works? It seems those would be considerably quicker and adequately strong as compared to this current system. Please let me know when you've authorized our return and we'll get it back to you. If there are any other question you have, just let me know. +----------------- June 23: Amazon informs me that the return request is closed. No Insurance Medical Supplies has closed the return request listed below. Reason for the closure of your request: Expiration of returns period Seller comments: I walk cannot be returned pat 7 days. +----------------- June 25: I respond as follows: Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2014 4:26 PM Subject: Re: Return Requested for order 103-5687897-5021018 Hi again -- Just wanted to say I'm disappointed with your decision to decline our return request. I do now understand you have a seven day policy and we were outside that. More disappointing was the experience with you and your product. In response to the initial request, you mustered a one sentence response, simply "What seems to be the problem". Then further, in response to my explanation of the issues we had with your product and why we were wishing to return it, including a question for you and enthusiastic comments about the promise of the device, you mustered merely a decline through the Amazon system. Needless to say, I'm unimpressed even if the outcome would have been the same. Your product has promise but isn't ready for the market, let alone at $150. Your customer service, at least as I experienced it, was poor. I will be commenting on Amazon to ensure people are aware of my experience and can consider it in evaluating your product. +----------------- So that's it. Just the facts of what our experience was. You figure out whether it's worth the potential that it happens to you. As I mentioned, the concept is awesome. It's just not quite there yet as a product, and the company's support is poor. Hope that helps.
