I wanted to like this book. I've enjoyed the author's other works and looked forward to this one. There were too many instances of cruelty to animals that I would pay good money to have removed from my mind. This story had some good elements that the author could have written about without including the sickening abuse of animals. It could be a good story, but if like me you can't stand cruelty to animals, this one is best avoided.
