Possible fire hazard?
I was excited to try the Hue system and bought a four bulb starter kit in November 2017 when there was a good sale. I've been using them since but last night one of the bulbs gave an audible pop, went out, dimmed the other (non-hue) lights in the room, and started smoking. We quickly turned off the power but it was too late for the lamp and the power strip it was plugged into - the lamp no longer works w/ any light bulb and the power strip gives off a disturbing electric fire kind of smell. I'm grateful I was awake and in the room when it happened - the lamp was next to our Christmas tree so the fact that it could have started a fire and burned down my house seems like a real possibility - at least to me.
I don't see any other reports of this kind of Hue failure on the internet so maybe this is just a one in a million, bad luck experience. Your mileage may vary.
I'll edit this review and update w/ what Philips and/or Amazon does to make this right.
