I rarely write a review, I have to REALLY love or REALLY be dissatisfied with a product to take the time. Unfortunately this is the latter. There is so much to like about this product - easy to use, nice design, innovative case...it just fails at the most important feature in that it doesn’t take accurate temperature readings!! The readings are all over the place. I haven’t been sick since we bought them so I had no way to test the accuracy. But I’ve caught a small cold and can feel I’m running a fever. I followed all the directions - new disposable cap, set to adult, used same ear each time. The first reading showed 103.2! Thats concerning but seemed high compared to how I felt. I tried again with clean cap, set to adult, same ear and the 2nd reading showed 98.6. What the heck? I actually bought 2 of these units so I had one for my RV. Now frustrated I retrieved the 2nd unit from the RV. The first reading with that unit (again using clean cap, adult, right ear) showed 98.4 and the second 99.9. Seriously? I then dug around in my cupboard and found the old oral digital thermometer... its really slow and I dislike the feel of it jammed under my tongue but its reliable. It showed my temp was 99.0 the first time and 99.2 the second. THAT is the sort of variability I expect...a few tenths difference. Not 103.2 to 98.6 or 99.9 to 98.4. Since I cant trust it, they are now junk to me. Very disappointing for how much I spent on them. And because it took longer than 60 days for me to get ill enough to test them, the return window is now closed.
