Condensed soup? Really?
I bought this cookbook based on the excellent reviews. And it is a beautiful book, filled with lots of tasty sounding recipes.
But several recipes use condensed canned soup and a few others use Uncle Ben’s wild rice blend, complete with the packaged seasoning. There’s even mention of a tube of crescent rolls.
Really? Over-processed, packaged ingredients? Ugh.
That’s a real disappointment.
I gave the book three stars because there are lots of other recipe that don’t include processed, packaged ingredients. But I was really looking forward to trying the chicken pot pie only to find it’s just vegetables in canned cream of chicken soup topped with a roll of pillsbury crescents.
Update: I've revised my rating down to 1 star. Velveeta? Really? And fatayer made with hash browns and cheese...and wrapped in canned biscuits?
For the life of me, I cannot fathom how this cookbook gets the raving reviews it does. They are not deserved.
