Acorn TV: Not Worth the Frustration, Effort, or Money
Across the board, Acorn TV is pretty much the poorest product and service of its type on the market. The selection of programs is not as good as Britbox and Britbox is barely worth the subscription. Customer service when there is a problem is virtually nonexistent. The TV-based interface (Acorn TV app), even via the Amazon Fire TV Stick, is not user friendly, extremely basic, and very poorly designed. The interface locks up regularly requiring the user to go out to the Fire TV Stick settings, dump Acorn TV, and relaunch it before it will work again. The search feature is extremely poor. One of worst I have seen. Trying to determine which shows, series, or episodes that you have already watched is not possible at all. The most frustrating thing about Acorn TV is it will crash in the middle of show and kick the viewer out of Acorn TV. Getting back to the show to resume watching is not easy especially if watching an episode within a series. The viewer must relaunch the Acorn TV app; locate the program; scroll through the various series; scroll through the episodes within the series; restart the episode; and usually scroll through to place where it crashed. I have experienced this happening 2 - 3 times in a 1-hour episode. I cannot in good conscious recommend Acorn TV to anyone for any reason. There should be an option to give zero or negative stars for products/services like these.
