Avoid. Failed In 3 Weeeks and "Warranty Service" Somehow Isn't Free
All I was looking for here was an inexpensive watch (cheap enough that I wouldn't have to feel too bad when I broke it though abuse) that looked reasonable and kept adequately good time. This watch certainly was cheap and does look very reasonable, in fact it exceeded my expectations on this front. The face is legible and attractive, the proportions pleasant, and the backlight really superb. The nylon band is pretty grody-looking after four weeks of working construction with it on my wrist, but you'll have that. However, the timekeeping is awful. Out of the box it ran a little bit slow, maybe a minute a day. By the end of the second week it was five minutes. Three weeks in, it's in a death spiral, losing over 20 minutes yesterday. Today it has lost 5 minutes in the two hours I've been awake. I checked out the warranty service from Timex and they want $8 as a "service fee," on top of the postage cost to send them my watch. Timex, I hate to tell you this, but charging your customers for repairs is outside of the normal definition of "warranty." To me, warranty means an assurance that if there is a problem with the merchandise it will be remedied at the seller's expense.
