Never buy cheap paints!!
After 30 years of teaching college level painting classes I still have the same advice
for all levels of painters- if you are a beginner of any age- if you are a more experienced painter of any age! Please,
Please remember this advice- only buy the
best label paints-watercolor, oils, acrylics.
Look at art magazines, study their ads,
ask the staff at your art supply shop,
ask any artist or teacher you can find.
NEVER buy cheap paints! Remember- you
only need 4-5 tubes to mix all your
colors. Cheap paints will never mix into
real colors. Spend that money on 5 tubes of glorious paints made with respect and you will never look back!
You need- ready? -white,
Cadmium Red, Crimson Red. (For mixing
violets) , Cadmium Yellow medium,
Colbalt Blue and either Prussian or Pthalo
Blue. That’s all ! Mix blue and a
bit of yellow = green. Mix red and a bit
of blue = violet.
Red and a bit of yellow= orange. Mix your
own darks together = black
Never throw away your money on cheap
low- pigment paints made in Chinese factories and jammed into cheap plastic
tubes.
