I have been feeding my 2 Scottish Terriers the canned and dry version of NB's LID Venison & Sweet Potato for several months. They loved it and I saw a dramatic improvement in their food-allergy issues. However, I opened a new shipment of canned food the other day and found it to be vastly different from what they previously had. The consistency is runny as compared to the more solid food we were accustomed to feeding our girls. I opened 3 cans out of the case to see if there was a difference; unfortunately not. So I stupidly began to give some of this food to our girls and now both of their bellies are full of sores -- typical food allergy reaction and they are itching and biting themselves like mad. After doing considerable research, I found that Natural Balance was sold to Del-Monte. I also learned that Del-Monte has a reputation of making less than high-quality dog food. It's a mystery to me what Del-Monte did to change the formula, but my poor dogs are suffering. Nothing lasts forever, and I'm moving onto Fromm's. It's made in Pennsylvania, USA, and is on the approved list of foods from Nelco Vet who performed my dog's allergy tests. (Natural Balance is also on the approved list.) I am going to phone Nelco Vet and alert them to the negative reaction my dogs experienced and hopefully encourage them to re-test the product. It's tragic how our dogs are continually subjected to subpar food. They look at us lovingly with those big, beautiful eyes and we unknowingly feed them poison. It breaks my heart. PetFoodTalk.com is a good resource for buyer feedback; however it hasn't caught up with reality because it still gives Natural Balance five stars. Unfortunately you have to dig through the Internet to find what ingredients will and will not work for your dogs. Best wishes to all and to your little critters.
