I am so incredibly fed up with this product. Out of the several dozen balls I have wound with it, only a couple came out perfectly with no problems-- and these were all coarser, heavier-weight wools. Unfortunately, the gears in this are so shoddy that it often "skips," ruining the tension and causing the yarn being wound to slip off the cake, wrapping around the top or bottom and causing tangles. I thought that perhaps it was something I could get used to or improve, but tonight (after spending 2 hours attempting to wind a single hank of Cascade Heritage) I came to the conclusion that when it's faster, easier and cheaper to do it by hand, the product probably isn't worth it. **UPDATE** Since so many people love this product I thought I'd give it another try, thinking that perhaps I'd received a defective model. With the new one, halfway through the first skein it started rattling, squeaking, and winding the ball unevenly. Not happy.
