Needs a wiring diagram for a standard wiring
The wiring diagram PDF in Amazon's Technical Specification should be in a larger font, because it took some hunting for me to find it. Over 95% of all homes have 3 wires in a 2-way(single-pole) switch. Most have a black(HOT), a white(NEUTRAL), and a green/copper(GROUND). Some have two blacks and a green/copper, but this only means that one of the blacks is HOT and the other is NEUTRAL. The manufacturer should have provided a schematic for these 95% of all homes that have 3 wires. This switch has 4 wires, a black(HOT), a white(NEUTRAL), red(LOAD), and green(GROUND). If the manufacturer of this switch wants the red(LOAD) to be connected to the NEUTRAL, then Schematic 3a should have specified it, or there should have been another schematic labelled "3a (3-wire)" that shows how they expect their 4-wire to be connected up to a 3-wire with a black(HOT), white(NEUTRAL), and green/copper(GROUND). This removes all ambiguity.
