They clearly advertise 40 deg F, but this was never the case. Even in my air conditioned home, the unit couldn't get below 45 deg F (after 2 days), and out camping, the coldest I read from the thermometer was 55 deg F. I placed the thermometer in several locations, at the bottom and up top, most areas on the cooler reading >= 60 deg F. Sure, it was definitely colder than the outside air, but not at all what was advertised. Also, they claim this cooler is 48 quarts, but using *their* product dimensions (specifically internal dimensions) of 17" L x 12" W x 11" D, this comes out to 2244 cubic inches which converts to 38.86 quarts. So they are lying about the capacity of this unit as well. (Now I realize I have to do my own calculations to determine capacity, since we're being lied to about this as well!) If it was just one problem or the other, I probably would have given it 2 stars, but falling short in two significant areas, I had to go with 1 star. I returned it, and of course appreciate Amazon's return policy for handling returns so seamlessly for products that do not live up to their claims.
