First time ever reviewing a book
Honestly, this book is insulting to its readers and the self-help community. Any author who generalizes its entire audience for how our stress manifests is full of themselves in my opinion. The writer should only talk about his own experience. Like other reviewers have said, this book is really really general stuff. I'll save you time. The thesis, which is not a novel one, is - YOUR THOUGHTS DON'T DICTATE YOUR ACTIONS - There's absolutely no insight in this book, no in-depth personal stories. It feels like some guy at a party who really thinks he "gets it" when in reality he's last to the party of "getting it" but he's got the most charisma so no one is stopping him from spieling on about his new epiphany. Seriosuly don't wast your time with this. The author likes to tell you how you are and why you need help and why hes the best one to help you. Sad to see self-help author's desperately throw together an on-trend book like this just to make money. If you want some real books to understand and improve your mental and emotional barriers may I recommend the following: The Body Keeps Score by Bessel van der Kolk - very researched based book on the effects of developmental trauma Homecoming by John Bradshaw - Older book, but provides great psychological exercises to process and move past developmental trauma Attached by Rachel S. F. Heller and Amir Levine - Overview of how you attach and relate to people Better Than Before - lifestyle author, however she writes about many effective strategies and hacks for improving your life now
