I've been reading these books since the very beginning, and I was wondering why I had stopped obsessively tracking when the next book was going to drop. Now I remember. Meet Alex Cooper, the main character of these books. She works for D.A. of New York in the Sex Crimes Unit. She must be pretty smart - she'd have to be to be in the position she is in. But OMG is she stupid. The D.A. is shot in front of her. What does she do? She lies, prevaricates, and misleads the investigating officers, pitches a fit when her boyfriend isn't allowed to be the lead investigator, and is such a whiny, bitchy, hateful character, I'm only going to read the next book if it involves Mike leaving her for someone who appreciates him as a person, and not just as someone who can help her cover her tracks when she botches yet another investigation. This book hit the wall before the end of the third chapter. Not literally, as that would have dented the wall and damaged my Kindle, but figuratively.
