I purchased this stool based on all the glowing reviews (12 were 5 stars, and 1 a 4 star), but my experience is negative. First, this is not well oiled teak at all. They only oiled the visible wood. Do you see those 5 horizontal slits in the seat? Those are meant to drain the water during the shower, and if you look inside them with a flashlight you will notice that the wood is unfinished. That is, it is not even coated with the teak oil. This is not something you will see unless you look into it, but the problem emerges when the seat is used in the shower. Water will get into the slits, it will soak the wood which, in turn, will swell. Second, my stool arrived with a long crack in the piece of wood that constitutes the right side in the picture. This crack is right on the top, extends for ~80% of its length, and it is deep. I did not make much of it at the beginning because it was barely visible, but I later found out that it widens when the stool gets wet, and makes it impossible to sit on it. Third, I contacted the company to get this item replaced, and they sent me a return slip for shipping the stool back to them. Trouble is, I have to disassemble the stool, put it back into the original package, and ship it. This is impossible because the stool is assembled with 6 large screws that are covered with teak plugs of 4-5mm in diameter. It looks very nice, but you cannot take these plugs away without breaking them. In summary, the stool I received was not properly finished, it came with a crack that makes you not want to use it, and it is difficult to disassemble to return it.
