Be careful before you buy LG 65UB9200 (updated: July 28, 2015)
Important Information: I also bought this model, whatever other mention are true, but their is a hidden dark secret you needs to know. It is currently NOT compatible with H.265 or HEVC codec. They are advertising HEVC on LG site as well as displayed on LG TV box. Yes, that means it CANNOT play 99% of the 4k contents. If you bought this TV due to 4k, please contact LG & request an update? Either they have to release firmware update for this model (prefer this) or they have to recall their product. If you want to test 4k, here is a sample HEVC (H.265) 3840x2160 [see reply] Only 1.52Mb file (10 sec test video) This also applies to other 4K TVs as well, in case someone wants to confirm if their TVs can play 4k in HEVC format, download this video & play using USB flash drive. Please reply back if any questions, I also suggest you contact LG by email, live chat or phone or you will end up with a 4K TV does not play most 4k videos. By the way, I can help you if you need to see 4k content sample video on this LG model using "older codec", as most of you may not have seen true 4K video on this TV (Netflix, Hulu & Youtube are no where near 4k Qty). Yes using actual 4K video, it will blow your mind on this TV, the qty is much superior, can watch it from 4 inch away. While playing just pause to see fine details & now try that with UltraHD Netflix or Youtube, so will see videos are so much compressed that their is no difference between 1080p & 4k. Update: As of current version, DLNA is not fully supported, if you stream video from your PC, you cannot Rev/Fwd it, you will get message "This function is not available", so you are stuck watching the whole movie before you reach the part you want to watch. Tested using PS3, same movie streams fine, able to Reverse & Forward it without issue. UPDATE (Jan 17th, 2015) Here is a good example of HEVC (H.265) file: General ID : 0 (0x0) Complete name : HoneyBee_3840x2160_120fps_420_8bit_HEVC_TS.ts Format : MPEG-TS File size : 30.0 MiB Duration : 19s 867ms Overall bit rate mode : Variable Overall bit rate : 12.7 Mbps Video ID : 101 (0x65) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main Codec ID : 36 Duration : 19s 966ms Bit rate : 12.0 Mbps Width : 3 840 pixels Height : 2 160 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Stream size : 28.6 MiB (95%) Just google for " HoneyBee_3840x2160_120fps_420_8bit_HEVC_TS.ts " to download the video file. When replying please use "MediaInfo", it will provide details on the video file you are trying to play. You can download "MediaInfo" tool from internet. UPDATE: (JAN 27, 2015) ultravideo .cs. tut. fi / #testsequences Please use the above url (remove space) & download test 4K videos. Videos that you can test would be HEVC with 10bit color support & 8bit. 8bit supports 256 shades (15-20 yrs old tech) New is 10 bit which is 1024 shades. (4x more shades & color). UPDATE (July 28, 2015): * Wifi Direct NO longer work with new firmware update. * Netflix crashes/disconnect daily many times after new update. * No more 4K video support. * No more viewing of Resolution info in Netflix etc (disabled by LG). UPDATE (Nov 24, 2015): More bad news, app support dropping left & right, received many such noticed [see photos].
