Planned Obsolescence...
I bought this printer less than a year ago on September 8th, 2017. At first I loved it. Now, less than a year later, I keep getting an error code. SB00. I looked it up and it has something to do with the printer calculating that the ink absorber is full. There's nothing you can do to fix this issue. The error message just says "See the manual and contact the service center". It won't let me print. Cannon's own product experts have said "Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. Please keep in mind that the costs associated with having this service performed may exceed the cost of a brand new printer." So, a printer that's supposed to save consumers money lasts less than a year, and now I more than likely will be stuck with repair costs that are more than the actual printer. To give you an idea of how long this thing will last, i've used most of the first bottles of ink that came with the printer. I have replacements bottles that I haven't used yet. It's also interesting to note that they put this error code in the printer to prevent the printer from getting damaged, but if the only option is a repair that costs more than the actual printer, what's the point!? I would have much rather being able to run the printer until I damaged it. I would also like to add, now, that my printer is still under warranty. The Canon website won't allow me to submit a claim, so I asked them, through facebook, how I could get in contact with them. They gave me an email address. I emailed them. They haven't replied in over four days. I don't think they will. I'm just going to count this as a learning experience and I don't plan on buying anything from Canon again.
