Agonizingly slow
The first third of the book could have been reduced to a single chapter and not lost a thing. LOTS of unnecessary details and an unsympathetic main character make this really hard to get into. Basic tale of the bored housewife who was only ever lukewarm on her marriage to a wealthy attorney but liked not having to work, ends up divorced. When he remarries and has the audacity to take the children on a three week trip to bond with their stepmother (somehow this is a bad thing?), her sister shows up for a minute and a half to drop off multiple expensive gifts, including a new car, and urge her to go to some small town in Idaho where she met a guy 15 years ago, she only spent a weekend talking to at a festival and hasn’t talked to since.
Everything after that is even more contrived.
