Beware of the Herd Mentality
I originally bought an Aobosi pressure on Amazon but very unwisely sent it back in favor of the Instant Pot. Why? Because like everyone else I blindly relied upon ratings, and not the evidence of my own eyes. When I got the Instant Pot and saw the build quality (things like a flimsy and flighty plastic pressure control valve or the plastic joke of a gasket), and how that really unfavorably compared with the Aobosi (which is built like a tank), I shrugged it off. Two thousand reviewers can't be wrong, right? Well, within a few weeks the plastic gasket failed. Luckily it was within the return window. And I shrugged off the few times the replacement didn't quite seal right, boiling my stews instead of pressure-cooking them. But last week, the display just failed: the machine just gave up. I wasn't surprised, at all. How the manufacturer could charge the same for this cooker (which, trust me, once you get it, you'll be underwhelmed) is beyond me. Well, not really: it's just a case study on the proper manipulation of information). If you get this, and feel the same way (or it breaks), don't make my mistake: get a refund, not a replacement.
