I Don't Believe Evanovich Wrote This Book
The plot was OK, although no one goes from a high school biology class directly to microbiology in college. I know, because I have a BS degree in Biology and took a lot of microbiology courses. Stephanie was a business major, and it would be extremely rare for a business major to take a couple of microbiology courses. She would have had to have a year of General Biology and General Chemistry first. With the internet available, Stephanie would not have needed to have taken any microbiology courses.
The writing style, atypical depictions of characters, and the many obvious discrepancies from previous books lead me to believe that Janet Evanovich did not write this book. Either that or she hasn't written her own work in so long that she's forgotten what she wrote. One glaring error was Ranger's building, which was described as having nine stories. In probably the last 18 to 20 books it has always been a seven-story building. So whoever was hired to write this book hasn't even read the entire series! Obviously Janet didn't read the manuscript before it went to print. I wish I could get my $13.99 back.
My plot suggestion for the next and final book:
Joe and Stephanie get married. Ranger starts a new branch of his business in another city. THE END
Spoiler Alert
The best part of this book was when Stephanie's mother took down the bad guy and beat him up with her bare hands.
