I've been buying Norelco shavers for as long as they have been making them. I will no longer buy Norelco razors because of the following reason. While the blades seem to improve over time, the motor that drives it does not. The Norelco razors of the 80's and 90's had motors that were powerful and fast enough to match the blades for a smooth/fast shave regardless of the model you purchased. Fast forward to my 2017 purchase and I was shocked that they use weak/ low rpm motors to turn these blades. Took me many passes and took an extraordinary long time to get down to a close shave. It felt like I was mowing my lawn with a blender motor attached to my lawn mower. If the motors get any slower the blades will not turn. They purposely under power these blades and then have the audacity to offer ultra expensive models that have "more" power to match the blade efficiency. They steer customers to their more expensive razors with inflated prices that realistically only offers adequate speed to match the blade. The extraordinary value they attach to upselling the speed of their product tells me that they don't sell razors, they sell features to compensate for their lack of speed. This unscrupulous marketing strategy is probably working on the gullible millennials, but they are losing the baby boomers who remember when this was a no compromise quality product and not a con job on the consumer.
