I'm a big fan of reviews that are clear, so let me be very direct. These clippers will not cut the hair on a standard poodle. Period. End of discussion. Doesn't matter the angle that you cut or the adjustment that you make to the setting. Attempting to cut the dog's hair was like trying to drag a spoon through wet concrete and, when forced through, the hair catches the trimmer and pulls the entire head off of the base. The unit may be ok for fine hair but, if your dog's hair is coarse, save yourself the time here and keep looking. This simply isn't functional for a poodle or anything like it.
