I really want to love the Echo Show. I'd hoped to use this in my private office to remind me of appointments and events. And it could be a great product if Amazon would make some of its standard features customizable. However, the simplest of things are impossible: 1. You can't turn off the Alexa "Try this" tips on the home screen. Why? Alexa products have been around for years now. We get the emails with updates. There is a whole screen on the help menu with new stuff to try. Why can't I turn this off on my home screen? In addition, why can't I choose what displays on my home screen? Time, weather, upcoming event is all I want. Considering the "toggle" options, this should work, but no. It always defaults back to "Try blah blah blah." 2. Why is there not a calendar "View Month"? Even if it's tiny, I'd like to be able to see the whole month at once, then click on a date to see what's on that day. Instead, Alexa tells me, "Currently, this calendar query is not supported." Eyeroll. 3. Is there not a way to control sleep mode settings? This is exactly what makes this product an expensive alarm clock and not an Assistant. I want the Echo to show me my next appointment, which it would if the screen would stay on. Why isn't a user setting? These are just my issues right out of the box. I'll probably return it and invest in a DAKboard.
