Pills I Received Smell Horrible - Read my short review
I've been using other brands Omeprazole tablets on and off for years. Usually Costco is the best deal, but I came across these and looking for a good value and quick shipping I decided to try out 'Base Care' Omeprazole.
I open the blister packs and put them into a (clean) prescription bottle that's labeled from an older Omeprazole prescription before it was available over the counter. For me, it's just easier to have them in a bottle and ready to use.
After popping open the blister packs and putting them into the bottle I noticed a putrid smell. It's worse than a fishy smell - and really hard to put a finger on. Toxic is as close as I can get really. I won't go into more detail about the smell. Just take my word for it.
Anyway, a couple of days later I decided to take one Omeprazole - Friday night. I opened the bottle and was hit with that toxic stink. Still, against my better judgement I took one. I mean, they arrived undamaged in blister packs and 'looked' ok. Just that smell...
Well, by Saturday night I had fever, chills, sweats and ached everywhere - like a flu.
I haven't had the flu since I was around 10 yrs old and get a vaccine shot annually.
I haven't tried another one since. I did open the bottle, but as soon as I smelled them I knew I couldn't take one again.
So, yeah maybe it's coincidence that I got sick the day after taking this horrible smelling Omeprazole tablet, but I wouldn't risk it. If yours smell - send 'em back or toss 'em out.
If you check my other reviews, I'm pretty fair about things and don't write too many poor ones. I could be the 'one-off' here, but considering how many other options there are for Omeprazole, I'd personally avoid this brand going forward.
