The bookcase is divided into two sections, an upper section (3 shelving areas) and lower section (2 shelving areas). This bookcase requires screwing the top into a wall for support. If you do not screw to a well, the bookcase will not stand on its own without the top shelving unit and bottom shelving unit wobbling. After assembly, and seeing how wobbly it was, I didn't bother putting books because it would have fallen over. I just boxed it back up for return. The sideboards are really thin (5/8"), despite the picture giving the impression that the sideboard thickness is (2"). There is a 2" slide-over front that disguises the thin boards. It looks cheap, it is made of cheap material (particle board sides and shelve, with MDF slide-over coverings), and it is too expensive for what you get.
