Cheaply made or faulty/poorly attached USB connector shaft
Metal shaft of USB port on the back of the keyboard broke loose and fell into keyboard after only several months (4 to be specific) of light, intermittent use (1-2x/week for maybe a half hour each session). The keyboard is now useless to us because it was bought specifically to be connected to an online piano lesson program. Takeaway - cheaply made product with faulty or poorly soldered USB connector shaft. The Amazon seller told us to contact the manufacturer for support. Casio is running us around in circles and wants us to mail the keyboard back to them (on our dime) and won’t even guarantee that they can fix it or that they’ll cover the damage under the 1 year warranty. Their site (which we had to make an account on to try and request service under warranty) also says this model is not repairable. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. Be aware that if your unit is as cheaply made (or faulty) as ours was that Casio will NOT be helpful in getting a replacement but will instead cost you more time, money, & unnecessary frustration simply to TRY to get resolution. Unfortunately, for the cost of the keyboard it isn’t even worth any more time or effort to try to get Casio to make this right. We will probably have to cut our losses and buy another keyboard (definitely NOT a Casio) and/or try to re-solder the part ourselves. If any Amazon reps are reading this review, I’d be happy to return the faulty keyboard to Kohls if you want to make good where Casio won’t. Your customer’s shouldn’t have to shoulder the loss when incompetent companies refuse to make good on their junk products. Attached is an image of the circuit board and the piece which broke loose. There is absolutely nothing around the connector to support it and hold it in place so the minimal tiny points of connection WOULD NEVER be enough to hold up to the normal activity of pushing in and pulling out the USB adaptor. Ugh!!! So frustrated and disappointed in this product and company!
